Lee County Public Library at Bonita Springs
A Mix of Old Florida and Contemporary Architecture
BSSW Architects used feedback from a community survey to create designs reflecting the wishes of Bonita Springs library patrons and government leaders. Their requests included having ample public-access computers, multi-purpose rooms and casual reading areas. The 31,000-square-foot facility blends traditional Old Florida elements with contemporary design principles. The library’s exterior features a stucco and stone veneer, towering windows with Bahama shutters, a pergola-covered second-floor balcony and clean exterior lines. Tropical landscaping accentuates the property. Inside the facility are dedicated areas for adults, teens and children, as well as a bookstore run by Friends of the Library. The library was completed in August 2019 at a total project cost of $14 million.
