Marco Island Fire Station 51
Architectural Designs that Blend Firehouse Traditions with Function
BSSW Architects designed Marco Island Station 51 as a modern, two-story firehouse structure that serves both business and residential purposes. The 9,000-square-foot concrete facility, which is built to withstand a Category 5 hurricane, features two oversized truck bays with stylish red-trimmed glass doors. The interior features office space and a conference room, as well as a kitchen and dining area. First responders working 24-hour shifts can take a break in one of five bunk rooms, stay fit in a state-of-the-art weight room or relax in comfortable recliners positioned around a big-screen TV in the firefighters’ lounge. Marco Island Station 51 opened in March 2019 at a total project cost of $3.8 million.
