An 8,070 SF fire station replacement on a very tight 13,700 SF site with multiple site challenges. The new 2-story facility has an apparatus bay for 2 fire trucks and accommodates a staff of seven with a day room, bunk room, offices, and gym.
Conditioned and occupied space require a floor elevation of a minimum of 2 feet above base flood elevation while aligning drives and pedestrian circulation with the existing street elevations nearly 4 feet below base flood. This 6-foot differential was solved in an aesthetically pleasing design utilizing the vertical circulation elements of stairs and elevator.
