Fire Station 106 was based on BSSW’s prototype design and adapted to best fit the specific needs of the community it serves and the site it was built on. The facility features 3 apparatus bays and a decontamination area for fire fighters to remove clothing and wash off hazardous substances.
Accommodations for a six-person fire crew plus Officer’s quarters include a dayroom, kitchen/dining area, gym, gear room, and watch room for on-site training. The ‘hardened’ building is able to withstand 170 MPH winds and provide uninterrupted power for 72 hours in the event of a hurricane.
